MY TESTIMONY
"Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure." — II Peter 1:10
Read My StoryThe first thought of needing to be saved was when our pastor came to the children's Sunday School opening and held four of us girls after to give us the plan of salvation and lead us in a sinner's prayer. He then told us to come forward at the invitation to make a public profession.
From my perspective as a child, it was a rare thing for anyone to walk the aisle, and if they did it was only people who had done really bad things. So I didn't go forward that day, but the Holy Spirit began working on my heart.
Maybe a year later, I remember the Holy Spirit convicting me during the invitation, at VBS at my grandparents' church, but I was too scared to go forward in front of so many people I didn't know!
THE MOMENT OF PEACE
Later that summer during a revival at our church, the Holy Spirit came convicting me again, this time the Lord sent a teenage girl to ask if I'd like her to go with me!
The minute I stepped out, I felt such peace and relief that I was finally getting it settled!
I was also baptized that night.
THE JOURNEY CONTINUES
I must praise the Lord for His gentle patience and guidance. After decades of doubting as an adult, making two other professions and baptisms, the Lord gave me clarity through His Word.
I understand now why I had struggled so much with my salvation — I had never added to my faith and grown spiritually.
II PETER 1:9-10 (KJV)
"But he that lacketh these things is blind and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall..."
