Have you ever wondered why weight feels harder to manage in midlife, even when you think you’re doing everything right?
A healthy weight isn’t about willpower or eating less or exercising more. It’s about communication inside the body, specifically between the gut, blood sugar, and hormones.
IT'S A SIGNALLING ISSUE
One of the most important signals in metabolism is the hormone GLP-1. While it’s often discussed in relation to medications, GLP-1 is something God designed your body to naturally produce primarily in a healthy gut.
GLP-1 plays a critical role in:
- Blood sugar regulation
- Feeling satisfied after meals
- Insulin response
- Communication between the gut, brain, and fat cells
When our gut health is compromised, whether due to stress, low fiber intake, hormonal shifts, or microbial imbalance, GLP-1 signaling becomes weaker and less consistent. The result?
More cravings. Less energy. Harder weight management.
WHY GUT HEALTH MUST COME FIRST
Supporting metabolism without supporting the gut is like building a house without a foundation. Quick fixes may work temporarily, but they rarely last and can have devastating, long-lasting consequences.
Healthy digestion is crucial for mental and emotional health as well as physical strength. Before trying a risky quick-fix product that forces appetite suppression or extreme dieting, try a gut-first approach using tools God designed for them to function.
Focus on
- Nourishment, because real food is medicine to the cells.
- Balancing pH because the body doesn’t absorb nutrients when it’s too acidic or alkaline,
- Proper hydration so the cells don’t hold fluid, causing “water weight.”
- Digestive enzymes, because as we age, they deplete.
- Balancing the beneficial bacteria
These foundations restore communication within the body's digestive system. When the body feels nourished instead of restricted, it becomes more responsive and resilient.
As you plan better health stewardship practices this year, education is key in deciding how you will renew your health. Hosea 4:6 reminds us that we are destroyed for lack of knowledge. We must learn how to support our bodies the way they were designed to function.
If you want to tackle your weight, I’ll be hosting a free online class on January 15, 2026, where I’ll teach how gut health, blood sugar, and metabolism work together and share details about my upcoming 60-day Renewed Health Metabolic Journey beginning on February 1, 2026.
